Welcome New Board Members

Brad SmithBrad Smith was recently appointed as a member of the S.C. Board of Architectural Examiners by Governor Mark Sanford. Smith is a principal with Pazdan-Smith Group Architects in Greenville. He has more than 26 years of experience in Master Planning, Architectural Design and Construction Administration. He is Immediate Past President of the Cancer Society of Greenville's Board of Directors and a long-time member of the Cleveland Street YMCA Board of Directors, where he also served as Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. Mr. Smith is the Immediate Past President of the Clemson Advancement Foundation. He currently serves as a Director of the Plantation Financial Corporation Board. He is Past President of the American Institute of Architects' Greenville Section.

After receiving bachelor of science degrees in design and building science and management, as well as a bachelor of architecture from Clemson University, Smith founded Pazdan-Smith Group with Joe Pazdan in 1993. Pazdan-Smith Group is a studio-based design firm with special focus in urban, campus + community, retail and healthcare design. Fifteen of the 32 employees are registered architects.

Smith is married to Greenville native Lyle Hudson Smith, and they have two children, Caroline and Brad. We welcome Smith to the Board!

Tyson NettlesGovernor Mark Sanford recently appointed C. Tyson Nettles as a Public Member of the S.C. Board of Architectural Examiners. Born in Sumter on March 29, 1979, he graduated from the University of South Carolina (B.S., Civil Engineering, 2001) and from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) School of Law (J.D., 2004). His areas of practice include construction litigation, architect/engineer malpractice defense, environmental law, mechanic's liens, business and intellectual property.

He is admitted to the Mississippi and South Carolina Bars and is a member of the Charleston County and American Bar Associations where he serves on the Young Lawyer's Division's Professional Development Committee and a South Carolina delegate to the ABA National Assembly.

Prior to law school, Nettles worked as a steel joist designer and as an intern at a large Architecture and Engineering firm in Columbia, South Carolina. During law school, he was an Associate Editor of the Mississippi Law Journal and an extern to the Honorable David N. Norton. We welcome Nettles as a new Board member!
