Q. How do I know that my credit card information will be protected?
The entire renewal process is encrypted and processed through a secured network. All S.C. state agencies use First Data Merchant Services (FDMS) to verify the credit card information provided by our users. FDMS is nationally recognized.
Q. How can I check the status of my renewal?
You can check to see if your renewal was processed by visiting our Licensee Lookup page. After renewing, if your status is displayed as "Active In Renewal," your renewal is currently being processed and will display as "Active" within 24 hours. Please wait 24 hours before contacting the Board. Licensee Lookup is updated on a daily basis.
Q. I sent a request for my User Id and Password, but did not receive an e-mail.
Contact the helpdesk if you did not receive your User Id and Password within 24 hours.
Q. I tried renewing my license, but received an error message stating "You do not have any licenses eligible for renewal at this time. Please contact the SCLLR if you feel this is in error".
Send an e-mail to the helpdesk. Include a description of the problem along with your name, license number and telephone number where you can be reached. You will be contacted once the problem has been corrected.
Q. I received an error message when I tried to submit my credit card information.
You will have to contact your bank if you receive one of the following error codes:

b. 51
c. 57
d. 63

Continuing Education
During the 2006 legislative session, Full Text the S.C. General Assembly passed a law allowing certain individuals to be exempt from continuing education requirements. To qualify for these exemptions all licensees must meet one of the following requirements:
BE AT LEAST 60 YEARS OLD, CONTINUOUSLY LICENSED EVERY YEAR SINCE 1991 AND NEVER DISCIPLINED BY THE BOARD
OR
BE AT LEAST 50 YEARS OLD, CONTINUOUSLY LICENSED EVERY YEAR SINCE 1976 AND NEVER DISCIPLINED BY THE BOARD
If you do not qualify for the CE exemption, you will be asked if you have completed the CE requirements for renewal of your license. If you answer YES, you may later be required to provide proof. Please understand that if you falsify the renewal application you may face disciplinary action by the Board up to and including revocation of your license.
Criminal Record
The last question on the renewal asks:
“have you been arrested for, convicted of or pled guilty/nolo contendere to a State, Federal or local violation of law (other than a minor traffic charge) since you last renewed your license?”
If you answer YES, you may be required to appear before the Board to determine if your license will be renewed for 2009-20011.
