Board Information

No licenses are issued through the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. The commission licenses qualified harbor pilots for the Ports of Charleston, Port Royal, Georgetown and/or Little River. All applicants must be individually approved by the commission majority before they are placed into the apprenticeship program for training and qualification for licensure by the commission. The commission investigates complaints against licensees and takes appropriate action when necessary.
