Board Purpose

The Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology was established to protect the public through the regulation of professionals who identify, assess, and provide treatment including the dispensingand fitting of appropriate devices to promote communication for individuals with communication disorders through the administration and enforcement of the speech-language and audiology practice act.

The Board grants full active and intern licenses to individuals in both speech-language pathology and audiology, separately and independently, when mandated requirements are met. Individuals may also be licensed as speech assistants. The Board may grant inactive licenses to individuals who do not wish to practice but who are fully licensed and in good standing at the time the request is made.
